One thing I’m missing in OSX is, that a windows gets the focus without being raised the front. This is known as xmouse on Unix systems. Normally the folks in Redmond are not known to implement such features from other areas.

But, to me surprise, this functionality can be enabled in Windows with a couple of very simple steps:

But, to me surprise, this functionality can be enabled in Windows with a couple of very simple steps:
- Open regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
- Edit ‘UserPreferenceMask’ value to be 9F 3E 07 80 12 00 00 00. Normally you only have to modify the first pair.
- Edit ‘ActiveWndTrkTimeout’, change ‘Base’ to Decimal and put in 50 as the ‘Value Data’
- Log off and log back in
That’s it. No 3rd party software necessary!
